What could be the cause of my mid-back pain?
I have taken Tylenol back pain but it hasn't helped at all. That probably means it is more of a bone problem than muscle. Has anyone experienced this?
I have had the pain for a while now and it is it the middle of my back and sometimes in my neck. I am also allergic to ASA, at least that is what I was told. I was prescribed medication a few years ago and was told there was absolutly no ASA and I still took a reaction, now they tell me it is trial and error. I am kind of scared to take anything but Tylenol.
ok.--- I work at an imaging facility so we see this kind of thing ALL the time! Mid back pain -the thoracic region of your back- could be caused from many things- but its not going to be from your bones- more like your spinal cord- what tends to happen for a lot of people is they get a herniated disk -the cushion between your bones in your back gets pushed out or can even leak out the inner gelatinous material of an intervertebral disc. this can pinch nerves and cause pain.
Pain is the most common symptom of a thoracic herniated disc and may be isolated to the upper back or radiate in a dermatomal (single nerve root) pattern. Thoracic back pain may be exacerbated when coughing or sneezing.
a lot of times the disc can go back to normal (if the fluid did not leak out) and your symptoms will eventually go away - sometimes it takes physical therapy - but if your pain persists for more then 5- 7 days or if you notice you are getting some tingling / numbness in your legs, I would go to a doctor and possibly get some x-rays or an MRI to help you find out what is really going on!
