wire up a car radio?
I need to wire up a new car stereo in my boat. I had a 15 year old stereo in the boat and had broken. I have now bought a second hand kenwood kdc-4070r. i have no clue on how to wire up a car stereo, is it just the jellow wire joins up with the other yellow wire thats in the boat or is it more compplicated then that?

The manual that I found there covers a few slightly different version of your radio , so bear that in mind that there could be some difference in the radio wiring color codes.
In a typical installation there are a few wires that need to be connected correctly for the radio to work.
The fattest one will go to the battery + terminal where it gets power all of the time. (probably yellow or yellow/black)
One wire will go to the ignition switch ACC (accessory position) where it gets power only when the key is in the ignition.
That means when you turn off the key the radio turns off automatically.
Boats often have simple ignition switches and may not have an ACC position , so this wire can be connected to the battery + terminal.
On some radios (but it seems not yours) a + wire will go to the headlamp switch to control the illumination brightness of the radios display.
In the simplest hookup all needed + wires can go to the battery.
If fitted , you will not need to connect the Blue/White lead , the Brown or the Blue/White leads , but individually tape them up well so there is no exposed wires that could ground out.
Don't forget to earth it properly.
Earthing provides the (-) of the supply power.
If your boat is wood or glass you may have to run a wire to the body of the radio (or its cradle bracket) to the negative (-) side of the battery.
You biggest problem is knowing which is the correct power supply and earth wires on the boat.
If in doubt get a multimeter and check for voltage or ground.
