Reg DVD (non HD) and Blue-Ray?
Will regular DVD players (not HD) be able to play Blue-ray discs? I have a satellite hookup (box has no DVD recording function although box shows HD programming). I also have a basic tv.
The VCR I am looking at does allow for an hdmi connection, and an ATSC tumer, if that matters.
It's a cool vcr-dvd to dvd-vcr recorder as well as a dvd player so I hope you can tell me if it is ok to buy.

bluray will only play on bluray players, because it uses a blu violet laser to read the discs.
A problem you may run into in recording HD programs is space if you are able to record onto DVD. As for recording onto VHS, unless it is a D-VHS it won't record in HD. What I've seen is HD recorded on a hard drive (DVR). I assume that the HDMI is to upconvert DVD images.
